Hijri Date

The Hijri Date project by the Usayd Corp. is a way of trying to encourage Muslims to use the Islamic calendar on their websites to increase self-awareness of Islam. Please link back to this page if you are using this service.

About the Islamic Calendar
The Islamic calendar or Muslim calendar (also called “Hijri calendar”, Arabic التقويم الهجري) is the calendar used to date events in many predominantly Muslim countries, and used by Muslims everywhere to determine the proper day on which to celebrate Islamic holy days. It is a lunar calendar having 12 lunar months in a year of about 354 days. Because this lunar year is about 11 days shorter than the solar year, Islamic holy days, although celebrated on fixed dates in their own calendar, usually shift 11 days earlier each successive solar year, such as a year of the Gregorian calendar. Islamic years are also called Hijra years because the first year was the year during which the Hijra occurred— Muhammad’s emigration from Mecca to Medina. Thus each numbered year is designated either H or AH, the latter being the initials of the Latin anno Hegirae (in the year of the Hijra).

Hijri Date
Please read this thread if you are having issues with this service.
This plugin adds the Hijri Date to entries posted on a WordPress powered website which is fully customizable thanks to the featured option in the administration panel. This project is fully open source under the GNU General Public License so it is open to development and there is a roadmap for future development.
This is the script that has been used to calcuate the Hijri Date in the WordPress plugin, and can be included in any webpage that can include .php files. This script is open source and is fully open to editing. The advantages of using this over the Hijri Date service are that you can customise it as much as you like and you are not reliant on an external server.
This mod has been externally constructed and is under the responsibility of the owner of the script. It uses the Hijri Date script used in the Hijri Date service and the Hijri Date plugin for WordPress to display the hijri date on phpBB forums.
This tutorial has been externally constructed and is under the responsibility of the owner of the script. It uses a hijri date script made by php4arab to show the hijri date on blog entries.

Modify the width and the height of iframe in order to properly display the hadith on your website.
Please note that the Hijri Date calcuation may (rarely) be off by a single day, unfortunately this is unavoidable in calcuated script. If you know of a better calcuation script please contact us.
More methods coming soon! Please feel free to contact us with your own scripts for different platforms, modifications of existing scripts, ideas or questions.
